Other Texas Instruments Calculators

Texas Instruments 73

Operating Systems (Zilog Z80)

Calcsys

Some sort of “system program” that features a hex editor, disassembler, port monitor, etc. akin to KnightOS’ features.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/196/19619.html

KnightOS

the pieces of KnightOS are maintained as separate projects under the KnightOS organization

Compatible with the TI-73. The most recent versions may support USB upload from PC, allowing this to effectively completely replace the original calculator OS.

https://web.archive.org/web/20231225091219/https://knightos.org/

https://github.com/KnightOS/KnightOS (git most recent & USB, but compile difficult)

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/463/46387.html (precompiled, NO USB!!)

Mallard

The only ASM shell for the TI-73 w/ dedicated programs, unless you want to count Swan or KnightOS. Has two versions, 0.2 and 0.3, with 0.3 apparently being just a test.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/366/36618.html (0.2, for TI-OS 1.6)

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/388/38805.html (0.3, for all TI-OSes?)

Swan

A flash shell that can run Mallard programs. Little information about appearances.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/455/45516.html

Texas Instruments 81

Operating Systems (Zilog Z80)

“Windows”

What even is this? The TI-81 has no way to communicate with a PC.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/48/4859.html

Texas Instruments 82

Operating Systems (Zilog Z80)

Ace, Ash, CrASH, JASS, OS-82

BacOS

Whatever this is, it has no information.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/50/5010.html

Cabinet OS ME

Allows organization of files, apparently.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/182/18213.html

DOS

Windows TI v4.1

Imitates Windows, with a start menu, cursor, and programs slots.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/92/9293.html

OS-97 v1.0

Like Windows TI, except no fancy GUI, it seems.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/1/187.html

OS-9X v1.2

Appears to be imitating a Powershell prompt of some sort.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/1/191.html

TI Windows 98

A more fancy imitation, because it has a mock Windows logo. The usual “Start” menu and nothing else…

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/76/7648.html

Windows 2000 (82)

Yet again, imitating Windows with a Start menu and nothing else. This time, it has built in programs.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/148/14868.html

Windows 95

82 Windows 95

Revolutionary, because it has icons on the desktop, plus little buttons where the clock would usually be.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/110/11025.html

Internet

Mbus

Requires CrASH. Enables I2C and Networking; to what extent is unknown.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/109/10999.html

Texas Instruments 84+ CE

Cesium

A colorful launching shell with various interfacing supports, such as file renaming.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/465/46574.html

Whether these emulators support operating systems for these consoles is unknown; it must be looked into further. Consoles without meaningful OSes are not included.

https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Emulators_on_TI_Calculators

Nintendo Entertainment System – NES84

Nintendo Game Boy (no Color) – Ti-Boy CE 0.1.3

Blocks-TI-84

generate natural-looking worlds, place up to 24 different kinds of blocks, keep up to 5 saves, and enjoy real-time shadow effects, transparent water, and a 10 FPS framerate!

An isometric Minecraft port created by The Science Elf. Pretty feature filled considering the power of these calculators!

https://github.com/TheScienceElf/Blocks-TI-84

Internet

Ti-Mail Calculator Email Client

Whether this can interface with POP/IMPP email servers is unknown, but it seems to imply it can.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/471/47156.html

Texas Instruments 84+ CSE

Operating Systems (Zilog Z80)

Console emulation (potential)

Whether these emulators support operating systems for these consoles is unknown; it must be looked into further. Consoles without meaningful OSes are not included.

Nintendo Game Boy (no Color) – Ti-Boy CSE

https://www.omnimaga.org/ti-boy-se-game-boy-emulator-for-ti-83se84/official-ti-boy-cse-alpha-thread/

Doors CSE 8.2

The CSE enhanced version of the classic Doors shell. Probably the fanciest looking of all the versions. Supports various interesting options.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/456/45670.html

KnightOS

the pieces of KnightOS are maintained as separate projects under the KnightOS organization

Similarly compatible with the CSE. The most recent versions may support USB upload from PC, allowing this to effectively completely replace the original calculator OS.

https://web.archive.org/web/20231225091219/https://knightos.org/

https://github.com/KnightOS/KnightOS (git most recent & USB, but compile difficult)

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/463/46387.html (precompiled, NO USB!!)

Texas Instruments 85

Many TI-85 programs will work on the TI-86. This probably doesn’t go the other way around.

Operating Systems (Zilog Z80)

85 Windows 95

A slightly cruddy Windows 95 clone, that is graphical with text.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/113/11350.html

BewShell

Very primitive text-based ripoff of MS-DOS.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/111/11150.html

CShell-NT

Future OS

A shell that professes to bridge the gap between the TI-85 and the TI-86 in shell function.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/120/12046.html

OS-85

More silly basic dialogue boxes and menus.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/7/717.html

Rigel

Appears to be the most presiding of the “CShell-NT” style shells; it’s presumably the origin of this “basic vertical menu” look.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/20/2079.html

Usgard

More interesting looking than the rest, with a background + Windows-style aped interface. Seems to be the 2nd most “respected” of the shells, going off the program counts.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/19/1919.html

Windows 85

This one’s cruddy level is unknown, but it is text based by self admission.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/426/42652.html

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/429/42988.html (newer?)

Windows 95

A very cruddy and “non-graphical” Windows 95 clone.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/45/4569.html

ZShell

Highly basic, but many programs depend on this, it seems.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/19/1968.html

Internet

TI Online

Talks about baud rates and modems, so it does appear to have the ability to interface. However, the extent of it’s function is unknown.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/24/2463.html

Texas Instruments 92 and II

Operating Systems (Motorola MC68000)

AShell

This has been seen on other calculators, and it’s not much different.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/8/843.html

Calcix 1.3.88

A more interesting Linux clone that seems to have more commands.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/15/1508.html

Copland Pro v5.5.2

An absolutely awesome clone of Mac OS Copland, which never released. Looks stunningly like the actual OS, as if it’s being emulated, instead of simulated. Excellent work.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/30/3085.html

Doors 1.0

Not sure if this is related to Doors CS.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/59/5913.html

Fargo

Some shell that seems to require compilation.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/43/4310.html (Compile on DOS)

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/43/4309.html (Compile on Unix)

Macintosh Interface

A slightly less stunning clone of Mac OS. Still isn’t too bad though.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/34/3483.html

OS-Shell

Looks like ZShell, but it’s in BASIC.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/24/2451.html

SH-Linux

Just a Linux clone, which does the job OK.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/58/5898.html

TI-DOS 0.66 Beta

Windows 92

What is a TI without a Windows clone? Same background as the Macintosh Interface…

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/28/2807.html

Windows 95

The better of the two Windows clones made in BASIC. Big menu, features, etc.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/8/864.html

Texas Instruments Voyage 200

Operating Systems (Motorola MC68000)

Console emulation (potential)

Whether these emulators support operating systems for these consoles is unknown; it must be looked into further. Consoles without meaningful OSes are not included.

Nintendo Game Boy (no Color) – gb68k 0.5.6

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/369/36950.html https://github.com/wyatt8740/gb68k

Einstein 4.0

Reminiscent of Windows, with nice dithering on the folder icons.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/404/40488.html

Integrated Desktop

Consice and detailed “icon” desktop interface shell. Lots of languages and applications.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/284/28443.html

Nostub Explorer

Reminds me of Mac OS. Automatically detects the calculator it runs on.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/391/39171.html

Orage Shell

Very fancy and nice looking shell with various functions and icons. Reminds me of the Amiga for some reason.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/339/33917.html

PCTools 0.97B patched

Patched version of an advanced file manager supporting plugins, nested folders, etc.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/405/40508.html

PedroM 0.83

Also possibly the prestige version. A very awesome looking GNU GPL adhering Unix-style OS. Feature filled, capable, and flexible. Has USB support.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/319/31951.html

PreOS

A reasonable kernel with various functions, such as “Crash protection”. Has a developer version.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/350/35090.html

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/379/37939.html (developer)

Punix

So far the kernel is being written, and user-space utilities and applications will follow.

May be better than the 92+ version, as this calculator is more advanced than that one. This OS is highly comprehensive, detailed, authentic, and sufficient for serving as a Unix-like. Almost complete, but there are known build issues. Remarkable work for this calculator, moreso than the 89, and possibly moreso than the 92+, as this calculator is newer.

http://punix-os.blogspot.com/

https://github.com/abbrev/punix

sh`L

French-only shell with greyscale dithering, compression, loading files, etc.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/266/26600.html

Tish

A quite concise clone of a Unix command line. Looks relatively interesting.
