====== 4th Generation ====== The first //true// generation of portable gaming, the 4th generation. Universally considered as having began in 1989 with the release of the Game Boy (and Atari Lynx!), and having ended sometime between 1997 (release of the Game.com) and 1999 (release of the Neo Geo Pocket Color). As this was the first generation of portable game consoles to actually have vitality, it's no surprise to see a relative lack of EOPs outside of the Game Boy, which only was able to get such EOPs by lasting deep into the 1990s. ===== Assorted ===== === Potential: === == Bit/UMC Gamate (UMC UA6588F or NCR 81489, 6502 based) == == Wellback Mega Duck (MOS Z80 variant or embedded Intel 8080, unsure which) == === No Potential: === == Epoch Barcode Battler (effectively discrete logic) == == MGA Game Wizard (effectively discrete logic) == ===== Atari Lynx ===== See Atari Lynx. ===== Hartung Game Master ===== See Hartung Game Master. ===== NEC TurboExpress ===== See NEC TurboExpress. ===== Nintendo Game Boy ===== See Nintendo Game Boy. ===== Sega Game Gear ===== See Sega Game Gear. ===== Sega Nomad ===== This system is simply a portable Sega Genesis without addon support. ===== Watara Supervision ===== See Watara Supervision.
