====== 3rd Generation ====== The 3rd generation of home game consoles, commonly considered as having began in 1985 with the release of the NES, and ending in the period between 1989 (release of TurboGrafx-16 and Sega Genesis) and 1991 (release of the SNES). Can be considered as the first generation to harness a true potential for the creation of EOPs, as hardware overheads were too restrictive in systems released prior to this period. ===== Assorted ===== === Potential: === == Amstrad GX4000 (Zilog Z80; compatible with CPC6128+) == == Atari XEGS (MOS 6502c; boots identical to an Atari XE computer) == == Casio PV-1000 (Zilog Z80, BASIC cart, PV-2000 computer) == == Commodore 64 Games System (will likely function as a C64) == == Epoch Super Cassette Vision (BASIC; NEC µPD7801G) == == Phillips Videopac+ G7400 (BASIC Cart; Intel 8048) == === No Potential: === == BBC Bridge Companion (Zilog Z80A) == == Bit Dina (Zilog 780A) == == Hasbro Control-Vision (???) == == LJN Video Art (???) == == Nichibutsu My Vision (TMS9928A?) == == RDI Halcyon (Zilog Z80B) == == VTech Socrates (Zilog Z80A) == ===== Atari 7800 ===== See [[eop:video_game_consoles-home:3rd_generation:atari_7800|Atari 7800]]. ===== Daewoo Zemmix ===== A weird series of South Korean MSX-based game consoles, which had a relatively long lifespan and seemingly acceptable levels of success in their native country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zemmix === Operating Systems (Zilog Z80A) === == Anything of the MSX == >This console was basically a MSX computer in a console casing As clearly stated, the Zemmix was basically just an MSX.
